Graphite, graphite powder
25" x 36"
My submission is a drawing I did as part of my Bather's Series of paintings. At the time I was experimenting with using powdered graphite as a painterly medium.
The subjects are family groupings I saw in various locations in New England. The natural compositions with families seem timeless. The arrangements of people are charged in a way that spoke to me and the goals I had for the series. The graphite is a perfect match for the subject.
I am a painter/ educator/ conservator, now retired, and continuing to make art. It's essential as a means to understand myself, tied to and tried by the mystery and beauties of the world.
